Elephant Sessions

Hailing from the Highlands of Scotland, Elephant Sessions create a progressive blend of intricate tunes, engulfing guitars, with a bass and drum heavy backline, combining the very best of trad, funk and electronica in a new and exciting sound.

Having formed in 2012, the band features Euan Smillie (fiddle), Alasdair Taylor (mandolin), Seth Tinsley (bass, synth) and Greg Barry (drums, samples). After gigging extensively around the UK, they swiftly built a fan base ahead of the critically acclaimed release their debut record, The Elusive Highland Beauty in 2014. This album and its subsequent tours and festival appearances led the band to be named Up and Coming Act at the BBC Trad Music Awards in 2014. Already renowned for their breath-taking live shows, Elephant Sessions gained success not just within the UK, but also at some of the most prestigious European festivals. They have since made live appearances at some of the most notable venues and festivals across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, including Glastonbury, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Colours of Ostrava and multiple headline sell-outs at Celtic Connections - most recently in 2022, at Glasgow's legendary Barrowland Ballroom, marking their first decade.

Mercury Prize winning band Alt-J, along with BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6, found themselves converted to the Elephant Sessions’unique brand of indie folk. A live session on NPR and articles in Rolling Stone Magazine and the Bluegrass Situation sat alongside national press, radio and TV. The band went on to pick up Album of the Year (2017) and Live Act of the Year (2018) at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards as well as a nomination for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and being twice nominated for the SAY Awards (Scottish Album of the Year) for their second and third releases, All We Have Is Now, and What Makes You.

Ahead of their packed-out Barrowlands show, 2022 saw the release of their highly anticipated fourth album, For The Night, which debuted at number 3 in the Official UK Folk Album Charts.
