Helene Blum and Harald Haugaard Band

Denmark’s number-one folk diva, Helene Blum, and master fiddle player Harald Haugaard are firmly established as two of the finest interpreters and innovators in the Danish musical tradition, bringing to life the nation’s cultural heritage at the very highest level of artistry. Their own songs and compositions sit beautifully alongside original interpretations of age-old melodies from Denmark’s rich treasure trove. Their integrity, extraordinary virtuosity and stage-presence are unrivalled, making for spellbinding concerts.

Joined by Kirstine Elise Pedersen on cello, guitarist Mikkel Grue and percussionist Sune Rahbek, the Blum and Haugaard Band is one of the top acts on the Danish folk music scene. Regularly performing over a hundred concerts each year - most of them outside Denmark - they are also tireless ambassadors for Danish music and culture abroad, regularly touring across Europe, North America and Japan.

The quintet’s music strikes directly to the heart, reaching right into the very soul of the listener. Their creativity is timeless, projecting the past into the future with a sound that is both familiar and tantalisingly innovative.
