Kabantu

Manchester-based Kabantu unravel new marriages of music from around the globe to celebrate the space where different cultures meet. Uniting indigenous musical strains from several diverse worldwide traditions, the quintet concocts their own charismatic arrangements to create an exhilarating show brimming with enthralling improvisation, scorching rhythms and beautiful melody.

Vocal harmonies from South Africa coalesce with Celtic reels, Brazilian samba and Balkan folk music - to name just a few - as Katie Foster (violin), Abel Selaocoe (cello), Ali McMath (double bass), Ben Sayah (guitar) and Delia Stevens (percussion) explore the common ground between their wide-ranging influences.

Kabantu brilliantly bridge countries and cultures, creating an exuberant and joyful sound that has been celebrated on stages ranging from the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall to the Cambridge Folk Festival, awarding them the Royal Over-Seas League Competition title in 2017
