Mo Kenney

Delivering mid-tempo indie folk-pop with instantly illustrative lyrics, Mo Kenney is a multi award-winning singer/songwriter from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Renowned not only for their lyrical prowess, but also a seemingly effortless, engaging stage presence, Kenney's willingness to unflinchingly pursue their artistic impulses on their own terms has resulted in numerous accolades, across genres, over the past decade - including a 2013 SOCAN Songwriting Prize for Sucker, from their eponymous debut album (produced by fellow Nova Scotian, Joel Plaskett, with whom they have toured extensively), a 2016 JUNO nomination, and countless East Coast Music Awards and Nova Scotia Music Awards.

And in the same way that a mask often reveals something profound and otherwise secret about those wearing it, Kenney’s most recent release, 2021's Covers offers a glimpse into their own molecular musical composition, with interpretations of songs by artists including Patsy Cline, Daniel Romano, The Kinks and Tom Petty, amongst others.

One of the most refreshing things about Kenney is that their performance and stories are completely raw. There are no extravagances to cover it up. Their distinctive vocals and outstanding guitar playing are intensified by the simplicity; their songs relatable yet mysterious. A truly unique singer-songwriter, Mo's music has been described as both folk and pop, amongst regular touring in Canada, the US, UK, Europe and Australia.
