Stromness RBL Pipe Band

Formed in 1980, the Stromness Royal British Legion Pipe Band prides itself in being a community band with membership open to all; male, female, young and old. As such, the thriving band is made up from folk in all walks of life - school bairns to pensioners – who proudly sport the Sinclair of Ulbster red tartan, with black tunics.

Having taken part in several Royal British Legion National pipe band competitions, with great success, the band joined the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) in 2007. In turn, this enabled the band to widen their competing events to include Scottish, National and a few major international championships. Over the years the band has gained many trophies - advancing their competing level from the entry standard 4b, to grade 3 for the 2013 season onwards - including the RBL overall championships, North of Scotland Quartets and Miniband champions.
