Entry to the 2015 Orkney Folk Festival Open Stage is now open.
If you fancy taking to the stage in the Stromness Town Hall – in the event’s tenth anniversary year – to be in with a chance of winning a slot at the 2016 festival, enter online here, until April 26. Applicants will be notified no later than May 3, regarding the status of their entry.
The light-hearted, but hard fought, contest is in place to encourage new talent to come forward. Many of those who have taken part have gone on to further success – such as at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival – having received a greatly enhanced profile just from taking part (and not just the winners either). Previous entrants include Griogair Morrison, Jessica Burton, Broken Strings, Louise Bichan and Jennifer Austin, Maggie and James Nicolson, Fiona Driver, No Soond, and Maggie Adamson, to name just a few.
Go on, you’ll never know otherwise.
